Katy ISD celebrated the individuals whose names grace its schools and facilities during a special Namesake Appreciation Night held at halftime of Friday’s Cinco Ranch Cougars vs. Fulshear Chargers playoff football game at Legacy Stadium. The event recognized individuals and families who have made a lasting impact on the District through years of service to students, teachers and the community.
Pride filled campuses across Katy ISD as student-athletes signed National Letters of Intent to compete at the collegiate level, marking another standout achievement for the District’s highly respected athletics programs.
Katy Junior High students swelled community hearts with pride through music, spoken word and artistry to honor local heroes during the school’s annual Veterans Recognition Ceremony.
Katy ISD proudly honored the brave men and women who have served our nation.
Katy ISD’s marching band programs closed out the fall season on a high note as three District bands, Cinco Ranch High School, Seven Lakes High School and Freeman High School, advanced to the UIL State Marching Band Championships. This marked the first time in District history that three schools earned the opportunity to compete at the state level in the same year.
Meticulous. Calculated. Competitive. These three traits have defined Freeman High School sophomore Andrew Hohmann, who made school history this fall as the first male athlete to qualify for a state championship cross country meet in the Golden Eagles’ inaugural year of varsity competition.
